The commercial serving of beer from the Princely Reuss brewery in the lower tavern (today: Goldener Löwe) has been permitted since 1543. This name probably came into being before the Migration Period and was adopted by the Slavs who had lived there since the 8th century. The Gera theater venues are the Big House, the Stage at the Park, the Small Theater in the Center and the TheaterFABRIK Gera. The Slavic settlement Köstritz was first mentioned in a seizure document from 1364 as Kostricz. A castle probably existed on the Kirchberg since the middle of the 13th century.
